While we love bringing the holiday magic to life across the Cape Fear area, our roots in this community run far deeper than just hanging lights. Behind Shark Illumination is owner Scott Hall, a proud UNCW graduate who has called Wilmington home since 2001.
Over the last two decades, Scott has watched the Port City grow, expand, and transform. That deep local connection is why he also founded Shark Power Washing, keeping local homes and businesses looking pristine year-round.
After years of helping Wilmington homeowners protect and restore their property exteriors through pressure washing, Scott noticed a common theme: when the holiday season rolled around, his clients were dreading the exact same ritual. Lugging dusty bins out of the attic, untangling endless balls of green wire, and balancing on slippery ladders in the chilly coastal breeze.
Scott knew there had to be a better way.
Combining the meticulous attention to detail required in exterior property care with a passion for creative outdoor design, Shark Illumination was born. Do I Own The Lights?
No, we lease our lights to you which is great for you because that means you never have to worry about maintenance, replacement, or any kind of maintenance. We take care of all of that throughout the season. We even handle the storage of your lights and decor!
Will You Install Lights The Homeowner Already Owns?
No. To avoid quality or safety concerns, we will not install lights a homeowner already owns. With our Christmas Lighting and Christmas Lights installation service, we will provide you with quality, commercial-grade LED lights that are designed to operate safely and efficiently for years.
If A Bulb Goes Out; Is It Under Warranty?
Yes! We offer our Christmas lights installation service as an all-inclusive package. So this includes design, installation, maintenance, take down, and storage. The warranty comes into play for the maintenance and storage aspects. During the season, if any bulb goes out or a squirrel chews through a wire – basically an equipment failure; simply let us know, and we’ll come out and repair it for free! Also, we will maintain them during storage and ensure that the lights are fully operational and looking bright and festive when we install them the next season!

Do You Offer Any Other Kinds Of Holiday Lighting or services around the home?
Yes, we do. We can light up your home for any holiday celebration: from Christmas, Kwanzaa, Diwali, Ramadan, and Hanukkah… even Halloween! We can do lighting to enhance any celebration your family takes part in.
Also, we own and operate a local power washing company called Shark Power Washing and have been serving the Wilmington area for nearly 20 years.
